I love this site, it reminds me so much of the fascination for electronics that I had 30 or so years ago. Then I joined a company that made electronics and of course erosion set in.
I Should retire soon then start over and with luck reach Jennifer's level of enthusiasm once more. PS. If I can't ask questions, why does the little box underneath say 'Submit Query'? Bye for now Tony

| Can I borrow a nice geek for a little project I'm working on? Someone may find it interesting. Mainly I need to read an electrical schematic, then get a controller working properly. I need things like square wave, pulse generator, variable controls etc. There are lots of other parts to the project too,but it will be cool when done. I have two engineers getting started next week, intitial discussions etc. Then two more in the near future. Any ideas on who might be very cool, and have a little time? email omirahealth@hotmail.com | |

Hi, very nice story about "circuit protection".
For a long time, starting in the 60th, I wondered, wether I was overconcerned by protecting my circuits (24 VDC) at the Vdd input of my PBs by using a 1N4001 Diode. Now I come to think, it was well done. Please more nice stories ! Ciao Dietrich

Is it can build a pulse generator with variable duty cycle and variable frequency in one breadboard using 555 timer? Actually i wanna build it, but dunno how. May you give me some advise? Thank you for viewing.

Ok, got a modified Dynaco Mk IV waiting for me to through some square waves at it. Enjoyed your website. Be good. Jack

What an inspiration to young women! All young ladies interested in technology should stop by and see that being a geek isn’t just for men.
As for role models (female or otherwise), Jan Axelson is one of my favorites. (http://www.lvr.com/) BTW, my daughter just graduated from UCCS (University of Colorado, Colorado Springs) with her EE (my little geekette, I’m so proud :) ). Now she’s working on a graphics degree (she hopes to work for Pixar so she needs both degrees). Love your Circuit Corner section, keep it up. I’ve been fooling with Z80s lately myself since the apprentices here (Saturn) are required to learn a bit of machine programming, and foolishly come to me for help. Great fun! :) Oh, and I guess that I must be one of the trolls :)

I enjoyed your web site. I am 63 and a grandfather and you kind of remind me of my oldest granddaughter. I learned of your web site via cad_cam_dro from one of your postings. You had a bunch of very useful circuits posted here. My granddaughter is still trying to decide her major in college and loves electronics. We are putting together some cnc machines for my hobby, maybe she will kind of take your lead for selecting her final career choice. BTW I am a ham radio operator and my call sign is kd6wd

| Hey there, Jennifer. I wish you lots of luck in your desperate job search. There's not really much down here in WA., though you might've heard that Microsoft will be hiring 4-5,000 new workers, but that's about it :-/. Really blows, heh, programmers around here are a dime a dozen. Also, I noticed that you're looking for sociables in order to break out of your 'stupid shell' ;). You should try out geekculture.com - great forums, interesting friendly people from everywhere around the world, Joy of Tech comic strip. It's the perfect place for a Canadian geekette. I found your personal history page rather interesting, since a lot of it was a bit familar. Although, I was doin' BASIC when I was 6, as opposed to your more superior 5, hehe.
The overbright LED experience especially hits home, since I remember attaching one to the user port of a Vic-20, and the thing exploded after a very short time. Luckly I didn't end up with fragments of hot red plastic in my eye. ;)

Lastly, while you mentioned you were born in Nfld, I can only assume you still reside in Canada. Thank you also for that. Have a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2003. | What a plesent surprise to encounter, even just electronically, a chick who likes Dune and Heinlein and is not afraid of highly technical subjects ( I understate of course, you put my feeble grasp of the electronic realm to shame, as I assume is also true for most people). If I ever actualy meet a woman who comes half as close to my idealized conception of feminine perfection, I will count myself lucky.

| Hi, came to see your page after seeing a post on Slashdot by you (geek chicks are few). It's been a long time, so maybe you aren't looking for EDA programs anymore, but for what its worth, I've had a lot of fun with the EAGLE layout editor from www.cadsoft.de. Good luck in your all your hacking endevours! | |

| Visited because of your comment about your Quake2 textmode hack. Leaving very impressed. | |

| Like so many others I visited your site because of your /. post regarding textmode Quake 2. You have a very nicely laid-out site except for the cheesy pic in the top right corner. ;) | |

| Well, I've looked a bit more at the photo and it looks like the book under dragon's right hand (I said: dragon's) is actually a Netscape Navigator manual. Could it be so? | |

Hey, checked out your site, nice stuff. YOu seem to be quite the programmer with a very good understanding of math and electronics. I'm a bit of a programmer myself but not really...just php. Nways, I like Dune (the artist) especially the music video for "I can't stop raving" (which I have). check out my site if you like... or if you like orange. http://www.allaboutorange.com

| Whoa, a geek who's a CHICK! Let's get married, I'm a programmer who doesn't live in New Zealand. You should include a pic or two of yourself here. In the meantime, the shot of Io was quite captivating. But surely you have a machine that's older than a P-90? Oh well, I'm rambling. Nice site, please encourage your fellow chicks to become geeks. Thank you. | |

Hi, nice page ...
_Please_ add some pictures of the equipment (and some of yourself wouldn't hurt but will increase the traffic to your page) :)

Yes I know I left you a message here before, and yes I know you had to deleat it, he he he, so I'll try and make this one more to your liking. First of all though, if you dont start taking pics for this page I will for you(and you'll have to live with the ones I take so watch it!)Oh well, its pretty good so far there is a LOT yet to add, and a lot of updates your neglected recently. Keep up the good work.
P.S. I just re-read what I wrote and realized that it is very critical(and hadmany mis-spellings, lol)I really do think the site is coming along well and I do like it.
