Background

Back around May 3, 1999, or so the filestamps say, I was playing with aavga with Quake1. I was so impressed that I wanted to try it with Quake2.

The problem was that Quake1 ran in 320x200, the biggest size to fit on one 64K video RAM bank. Quake2 ran at a minimum of 320x240. I had to modify aavga to support flipping banks.

Sources

I modified aavga to yield aavga2.c. It worked just fine.

On Dec. 31, 2001, I got a minor attack of Slashdot Effect, specifically looking for this page. Luckily, 3000 hits in two days didn't bother my web server at all. I guess I'm just lucky. This page is also one of the biggest reasons that people visit my page, second only to me posting on Slashdot.
